Infertility

Even though infertility affects at least 10% of the population, most couples feel as though they are the only ones struggling through it. Help give some reassurance to those encountering fertility problems by talking about your experience. Did you turn to in vitro fertilization or some other form of infertility treatment? Were alternative or natural fertility treatments useful for you? We want to hear your encouraging anecdotes about infertility and fertility treatments.

hope

I have been ttc for over a year. In March I had an ovarian cyst removed from my right ovary and now I have another cyst on my left. I also have a slight case of endometriosis as well. Its been an emotional rollacoaster for us. I am sad, angry and frustrated. Reading all of your stories give me faith. I hope some day it happens for us, but there are plenty of days I just want to give up. Reading these stories do give me strength. I pray for everyone who is struggling like my husband and I. Its hard but its a joureny I am not willing to give up.

1st Time IVF

Hello ladies I have been reading all of your stories and would 1st like to say best of luck to all of you. My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for about 2 yrs now. I have come to find that I have tubal blockage. About 4 yrs ago I had surgery for severe displasia (cervical cancer) I am in the clear now as far as that goes. So now we are starting IVF in the next couple of weeks. For those of you who don't have INS coverage please ask for medication donations from your specialist. I did this and got all my meds for free. My INS only pays for IVF procedures not meds. Some lucky women are able to get pregnant during IVF before starting or during their IVF treatment, so they donate their meds. I am feeling very excited but nervous. I just hope that I am able to get pregnant during this 1st cycle. I will be so heart broken. My INS only pays 10 G's one time only. After our cycle we are on our own eveything will come out of our pocket. Thanks for taking the time to read my story. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

About to try iui

I have been married for 9 years and ttc for 8. My husbands first test about 4 years ago showed no sperm and his last one 2 years ago showed some. Enough for IVF but we cant afford to do it. We are going to try iui even though the doctor didn't make it sound promising. It is so easy for him to tell us if it were him he would do ivf, he has the money. Why is it that insurance wont help pay for any of it. There is something that needs to be done. There is too many couples going through this. As I found out tonight, I have been crying reading all your stories. I know your pain. Please pray for me, and I will be praying for all of you. It it just hard to keep the faith sometimes. I catch myself thinking there can't be a god, or this wouldn't be happening. When there is a women on Craig list trying to sell her baby. But I quickly tell god I'm sorry, its such a battle. Good luck to you all

Jen

Pregnant on my own after 5yrs and fertility treatm

I am a regular reader of this column where I come often for support and encouragement. Well I have one daughter 13 yrs ago and started trying for # 2 -5 yrs ago. I had 3 IUI's and one IVF last year, all unsuccessful. I did a laparoscopy last Dec, 07 and had polyps, cyst, and scars removed. I did 2 more IUI's this year, 08 and they both failed. I went to the doctor this month on Memorial Day to start another IUI with superovulation when low and behold my urine test showed positive in the doctor's office when I went in for my day 3 ultrasound and blood work for FSH and E2. This was the third day of my period which was very heavy. I told the nurse I can't be pregnant because I'm seeing my period as we speak. She ordered a blood test and it too came back positive. I was in shock! Anyway I have been going every 2 days for blood work to check my hcg levels and they have been doubling every 2 days as they should. My progesterone is a little low first at 6.9 but went up to 8 something. They want to see it over 10 so I am on progesterone -crinone. I hope this one works because I have had 2 miscarriages over the last 2 yrs. Hope this will encourage someone, because after 5 yrs and all that money, I finally got pregnant on my own.
