Hyperemesis Hell

Wow... I knew pregnancy would be no cake-walk, but this is just ridiculous. My nausea was the first indicator which led me to even think about a home pregnancy test. At two weeks, I found a sudden aversion to some of the smells I had previously found most pleasant, and my fiance was immediately sent to the shower upon walking thorugh the door on a nightly basis. I heard several say "oh that doesnt start this early, maybe you're just ill". But sure enough, after 4 tests (yes, 4... I had to be 900% certain) it was confirmed that I was expecting.

Oh, and then came the stories... "I never once had a bit of morning sickness, only heartburn" or, "your morning sickness should wane toward the 12-week mark" and the best of them all... "Morning sickness is a figment of women's imaginations". At present, I find myself skeptical at best. Here I am in the heat of week 11 and it only seems to be escalating.

I currently find it almost intolerable to force myself from the comfort of my bed for fear of any odor at all. It doesn't matter if it's a lovely curry dinner or my fiance trying desperately to rid the house of funk with sickly-sweet febreeze... All is lost the moment my eyes open and my nostrils resume bionic function. My mother suggests a clear liquid diet, but even those are hard to keep down anymore.

I am desperately waiting for my paycheck to arrive so that I can clear the produce section of all ginger product available... in the meantime it's a ride on the porcelain Honda for this mom-to-be.

When I knew

I was at work feeling nauseous all day and having a headache. I took the next day off work, but still I wasn't feeling like myself. So, I took a home pregnancy test and it was positive. I immediately called my Dr. and got in to see her within the hour. Sure enough, I was 5 weeks pregnant. It was the furthest thing from my mind considering we have been trying to conceive for 5 years w/o luck. I am blown away right now. I have wanted this for so long, I can now tast it. Just wanted to share my story.

i conceived on my very first sexual act with my boyfriend and i even took morning after pill the next morning but still the pregnancy test came back positive.

after the initial shock i am now exited but havent yet told my mum whom may not approve coz am not married.

the morning sickness is killing me, and i cant seem to get out of bed in the morning. i wish i could get some leave from work and just sleep the whole day.

my boyfriend is very supportive and i pray he will be this way for the whole 9months

wish me luck in this new experience.

ECTOPIC ONCE, PREGNANT AGAIN

HI, I RECENTLY FOUND OUT THAT I WAS PREGNANT BY TAKING THREE HOME PRGNANCY TEST IN ONE DAY.(I NEEDED REASSURANCE) BY MY CALCULATIONS, I BELEIVE THAT I AM ABOUT 6 WEEKS. I HAVE BEEN READING ALOT OF THE STORIES POSTED ON THIS SITE. SO I THOUGHT THAT I WOULD SHARE MINE.

ABOUT THREE YEARS AGO I HAD AN ECTOPIC PREGNANCY. (PREGNANCY OUTSIDE OF THE UTERUS, IN THE FALLOPIAN TUBE.) I DID NOT KNOW THAT I WAS PREGNANT UNTIL I WAS RUSHED TO THE HOSPITAL WITH EXCRUSIATING PAIN IN THE LEFT SIDE OF MY ABDOMIN. I RECEIVED A PREGNANCY TEST, AND WAS INFORMED THAT I WAS 8 WEEKS PREGNANT INSIDE OF MY LEFT FALLOPIAN TUBE. I WAS RUSHED INTO EMERGENCY SURGERY, WHERE MY FALLOPIAN TUBE WAS REMOVED. IT WAS A LONG PHYSICAL RECOVERY, AND I AM STILL TRYING TO RECOVER EMOTIONALLY.

WELL IM PREGNANT AGAIN, AND VERY EXCITED, AND SCARED. IM NERVOUS THAT SOMETHING BAD COULD HAPPEN, BUT EXTREMELY HOPEFUL THAT EVERYTHING WILL TURN OUT FINE. AFTER MY SURGERY THE DOCTORS SAID THAT IT WAS A 50% PERCENT CHANCE THAT I WOULD BE ABLE TO CONCEIVE. I HAVE A STRONG GROUP OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS PRAYING FOR ME. SO EVERY THING SHOULD TURN OUT FINE.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF THE EXPECTANT COUPLES OUT THERE. I WISH YOU THE BEST IN LIFE. THANKS FOR READING MY STORY.

Anxious and Waiting

My last menstrual cycle was 6/18/06. I took a preg. test on 7/18 and it was negative. I did again on 8/14 and it was positive. I immediately set up an appt. with my Gyn. (he no longer delivers babies) and he thought I was 4 weeks pregnant. He referred me to a OB/GYN, who I have a scheduled appt with on 9/6.
So, I've been waiting 3 weeks for this first appointment and I can't help feeling anxious. My husband & I have told noone (married 4 years) b/c we really want to get a true affirmative from the doctor first and get a real due date. Although my GYN said I was only 4 weeks, I feel I'm more like 8 weeks along. The only difference I've been having is definately mood swings, breast tenderness, and I look completely bloated.

We are going on a hiking trip this weekend with 4 couple friends of ours and my husband and I are coming up with all kinds of excuses and hoodwinks to fool our friends to think that I am actually drinking. Any ideas on how I can avoid the "why aren't you drinking?" questions during a 4 day weekend?

Also, did anyone out there have just the sytmptoms I've had during their first trimester?
