I knew it!!

Early in my 2nd pregnacy I had a gut feeling I was having twins. I was twice as sick and showing really early. At my 12 week visit I asked my ob if he would do an early ultrasound to check. He said, "I only hear 1 heartbeat and you are measuring for 1. So I pushed it out of my mind- disappointed.

I went in for an ultrasound at 18 weeks, wearing pink (hoping for a girl), and the technician said, "Let me do their measurements and then I will show you the screen and let you take a look at them." I said, "Them??" She said, "Oh my gosh, you didn't know- you have 2 babies and quickly showed us the screen. My 3 year old son was in the room with us and decided he wanted to go to the waiting room with my mom. She asked him if the baby was a boy or a girl and he held up 2 fingers and said, "There's 3 babies." My mom laughed and told him no there was just one. She came back to see the ultrasound and told us the story. I said there is only 2, laughing. My dad called as the tech. was showing my mom the ultrasound. She told my dad it was a boy and hung up the phone. I asked her why she didn't tell him about the other baby. She thought we were kidding and the ultrasound went up one side and down the other of the same baby (at 18 weeks, they are too big to be on the ultrasound together). One of my first thoughts when she said 2 babies was "now I have 2 chances for a girl!" I held onto hope the whole pregnancy that they were wrong about 1 of them and I would get a girl, but that didn't happen. My mom asked me if I would rather have 1 girl or twin boys and I answered twin boys without hesistation.

My doctor put me on modified bedrest at 20 weeks because my cervix was starting to thin out. At 23 weeks I went into preterm labor and almost lost my precious babies. The neo doc came in and said if they were born they would seem healthy for a while and then they would let them die in our arms. It was a very hard time! I stayed in the hospital for a week and they finally got my contractions under control. I went home to stay in bed 24/7 with a ton of drugs and a fetal monitor that I had to wear 2-3 times a day. We made many trips to the hospital to stop my labor.

My babies made it all the way to 33 weeks. They were 4 6 and 4 8, the neo doctor told us they should have a lot more problems than they did and that we were lucky. My husband corrected him and said we were blessed! They stayed in the hospital for 14 and 16 days- it was very hard to leave them after our visits everyday- but was kinda nice to be able to recover from being in bed so long- I had no energy!!

The first year is a blur, I sometimes wonder how we got through it. And the last couple years has been total chaos. The twins get into so much trouble than my singleton did. They paint with their poop, pee off the balcony into the den, scale the furniture, even built a snadcastle in the living room floor a couple weeks ago! I could write a book about all the stunts they have pulled. We fought so hard to get them here, it's sometimes hard to get mad at them. They are our miracle babies- it's hard to believe they are 3 now.

Thanks for reading my story, it was nice to recall the miracle of their birth. I never want to forget what God did in our life! Good luck with your twins+ pregnancies!!

One baby here and twins on the way

I have an 11 month old, and I just learned that I am pregnant with twins. I am 9 weeks pregnant and trying hard to digest the prospect of having three babies at once. I'm completely overwhelmed, scared, and not feeling happy.
I want to embrace this pregnancy as I did my first, and I feel guilty that I'm not ready to do so. I know this feeling is natural, but I'm waiting to get past it and feel excitement for this blessing. Any input or suggestions??

pregnant with twins

When I found out that I was pregnant with twins I was scared to death. I thought how am I going to take care of two babies and my nineteen month old son. But then I got into support groups trying to understand and learn more about my situation better. So if I can do it, then anybody can do it. I just try to ask as many questions as possible so that I can have a peace of mind (most of the time). But I'm happy to have the chance to have babies, after all doctors told me that Ii could never have kids and I'm about to have three in all. All I have to say is that talk to your doctors about everything and look up information that you dont understand. Get into some support groups, talk to other mothers maybe they can answer your questions to where you understand them.

My world

I would like to take you into my world....Today I found out that I've been extremely blessed with 2 beatufil babies....I am 21yrs of age and I am a first time mom...@ 13 weeks. I went to take an ultrasound today and the doctor told me that he only saw 1 baby. After that, I received a call from my mom telling me about her dream, visualizing 2babies. I then asked the doctor was he sure about the # that he saw, and he proceeded to view the ultrasound again...and there it was, my other beautiful baby was hiding on the side.
I had no idea i was carrying 2 babies...my height is 5"4" and I gained only 7 pounds since the pregnancy...now weighing 134lbs. My stomach is not noticeable, and I was only sick for the first month. I seem to be more tired than normal, and I dont have much energy as I did before. But I notice alot of movement in my stomach, and I feel like I weigh 150lbs. I don't feel that bad like at the beginning of the pregnancy. But I still look good and I have prepared myself to look worse. But I can't wait til it's all over. My husband is excited and so am I. I'll keep you updated

could it be twins - and i dont know...?

im just curious if anyone out there has been pregnant with twins and not known it until close to the end of their pregnancy... is it true that twins can hide behind eachother and even the ultrasounds dont pick it up? i am 31 weeks pregnant and have had two ultrasounds that show just one baby. however i have had many people including 2 nurses ask me when my twins are due! i am 5'9" and not overweight but i have gained more than i should this pregnancy (and with my first) and having a boy, im all belly. i have twin cousins on my moms side so it could be possible... so anyone out there thats had hiding twins let me know - thanks!
